The Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD, German Academic Exchange Service) funds a three-year project aiming to foster the Greek engineering higher education and research on the Wind Turbine technology. The involved universities in this project are the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Germany, and the Engineering School of the University of Patras, Greece.
The goal of the project is to open ground for a German-Greek joint-master’s degree in Wind Turbine technology and to establish student exchanges through the well-known ERASMUS platform. Three engineering departments of the Greek University of Patras will be involved in this joint-master’s degree, namely the Department of Mechanical Engineering & Aeronautics, the Department of Civil Engineering and the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering.
To this purpose, DAAD supports the organization of four workshops, which will be held in the University of Patras during the last two years of the project, with the special focus of teaching on the installation and operation of wind turbines. More precisely, the first and second workshops will take place during the summer 2021 and will deal with “Numerical simulations for Wind Turbine engineering problems” and “Study of structural and foundation systems of Wind Turbines”, respectively. The third and fourth workshops concern “Design and maintenance of Wind Turbines” and “Power output predictions, smart grids and environmental issues for Wind Turbines” and will be organized for the summer of 2022.
